Review of the NEW BankAmericard Credit Card (2017)

Bank of America discontinued their Better Balance Rewards credit card and replaced it with this card!

How does this new card stack up against the original #1 on our list of Top 5 Student Credit Cards?

Let’s find out…

Benefits of the latest Bank of America credit card (BankAmericard):

  1. No annual fee (standard)
  2. 0% APR for your first 15 billing cycles for purchases and for any balance transfers made within 60 days of opening your account.
  3. Transfer high rate balances and save on interest with an Introductory $0 balance transfer fee for the first 60 days your account is open. After that, the fee for future balance transfers is 3% (min. $10).

Pretty bare bone, no rewards or anything… Does it get any better?

Nope. This card was made to be a balance transfer credit card and that’s that. It might also help you out if you’re planning on making a big purchase, but in all honesty I would go for the Citi Double Cash with 2% cashback (despite the 3% fee, you also get 15 months of 0% apr on balance transfers). If you need to make a big purchase I would go with the Chase Freedom (which is on our Top 5 Student Credit Cards list) with 5% back on rotating categories & 1% cash back on everything else +  0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers.

So should you get it? Ehh… If you really need that balance transfer and or purchase 0% apr then go for it, but that’s only if you can’t get the other 2 cards listed above. If you need only 6 months of 0% apr on purchases the the Discover it for Students would be a good choice. This card is just okay, nothing special.
