Review of the Capital One Venture Credit Card (2017)

Are you a student with very good credit? Like to travel?

Take a look at Capital One’s best Travel Credit Card!

This is one of the lesser known travel cards, but don’t let that deter you from taking a look at it. In terms of Student Credit Cards, this is a easier card to obtain compared to cards such as the Barclaycard Arrival Plus, Chase Sapphire Preferred, etc… Why? It’s Capital One, they give out credit lines a lot easier compared to the competition: Click me for data points

What are the benefits of the Capital One Venture?:

  1. x2 points on the dollar (100 miles is equal to $1 in travel rewards)
  2. No foreign transaction fees (because this is a visa, this is accepted pretty much everywhere!)
  3. Visa Signature Benefits such as concierge, extended warranty, etc

Introductory offer: One-time bonus of 40,000 miles—equal to $400 in travel—once you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months & no annual fee the first year ($59 after that).

Personal thoughts: This is a good introductory travel card, especially if you’re a college student (690+ credit score is recommended). Capital One provides a solid introductory offer and x2 points on the dollar is good. On top of that, no foreign transaction fees on a Visa is amazing if you travel, Visa is accepted practically everywhere. The benefits of the card is really the only downside, Visa Signature Benefits are okay… I much prefer Mastercard World Elite benefits that include price protection.

Should you get this card?: If you like to travel I would say yes. This is one of the better introductory offers in terms of credit cards, plus Capital One credit cards are easy to obtain.

Would I get this over a 2 cent to the dollar cashback card (ex: Citi Double Cash)? No. Unless, you only plan on getting this card for the introductory offer.
