Bank of America discontinued their Better Balance Rewards credit card and replaced it with this card!
How does this new card stack up against the original #1 on our list of Top 5 Student Credit Cards?
Let’s find out…
Benefits of the latest Bank of America credit card (BankAmericard):
- No annual fee (standard)
- 0% APR for your first 15 billing cycles for purchases and for any balance transfers made within 60 days of opening your account.
- Transfer high rate balances and save on interest with an Introductory $0 balance transfer fee for the first 60 days your account is open. After that, the fee for future balance transfers is 3% (min. $10).
Pretty bare bone, no rewards or anything… Does it get any better?
Nope. This card was made to be a balance transfer credit card and that’s that. It might also help you out if you’re planning on making a big purchase, but in all honesty I would go for the Citi Double Cash with 2% cashback (despite the 3% fee, you also get 15 months of 0% apr on balance transfers). If you need to make a big purchase I would go with the Chase Freedom (which is on our Top 5 Student Credit Cards list) with 5% back on rotating categories & 1% cash back on everything else + 0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers.
So should you get it? Ehh… If you really need that balance transfer and or purchase 0% apr then go for it, but that’s only if you can’t get the other 2 cards listed above. If you need only 6 months of 0% apr on purchases the the Discover it for Students would be a good choice. This card is just okay, nothing special.
